President's Message and Theme
"To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow" Audrey Hepburn
Dear Fellow Garden Club Members,
During the many months of this pandemic there have been many moments wondering what tomorrow will bring. Our lives changed suddenly and hopefully we will emerge with a new appreciation of the blessings we encounter every day in every person we meet and every opportunity presented. My hope is we can all cherish each and every tomorrow as we move forward with our club. I will challenge each of you to plant your garden both physically and mentally and believe our tomorrows will bring renewed sense of well being and promise. Gardens need to be planted, nurtured and shared but most of all enjoyed.
We have wonderful programs planned throughout the year and hope you will participate as much as possible. So many of you have stepped forward to volunteer to chair an activity and I promise you will emerge with a new appreciation of the knowledge of so many of our members as well as recognize what a wonderful group of women make up the membership of the Plaquemine Garden Club.
We will have many opportunities to participate in activities that enhance our community. Our national president's theme, "PLANT AMERICA-PLAY OUTDOORS" and our LA President's Theme: "PLANT LOUISIANA — Practice Sustainable Gardening" will guide us as we focus on new plantings and landscaping in the Plaquemine area. Each time we plant a garden we will renew our hope for tomorrow as well as our neighbors and the larger community.
I need to recognize my niece, Andi Hayes, for the original sketches throughout the book. She loves to draw and graciously accepted the challenge to enhance our yearbook. Thank you, Andi!
With a renewed appreciation for each tomorrow,
Kathleen F. Cooper
2021-2023 President
