September 2019 Garden of the Month
Congratulations to Garden of the Month Winner September 2019
Jeffery and Tammie Graham –58510 Village Drive, Plaquemine
September was a hard month to find a worthy garden due to the brutal summer heat, but after lots of searching we found and fell in love with Jeffery and Tammie Graham’s yard located on Village Drive in Plaquemine. There lawn is lush Centipede grass and their landscape design and color flowed so well together. All of the landscaping and beds were in perfect condition. The landscaping was popping with a variety of colorful perennials including hostas, or as we sometimes call them “potato vines,” hydrangeas, and a focal hibiscus, which added interests to the garden. Shrubs included callistemon, also known as “bottle brush,” camellias and azaleas. There were also several rose bushes. Trees included red twig dogwood, palms, and crêpe myrtles.
The Graham’s were contacted on behalf of the Plaquemine Garden Club to accept the Garden of the Month for September. They were so gracious and excited. Their sign was put in the yard on the first of the month. Photos were taken on September 12th as Jeffery works off-shore and was out for 2 weeks. They asked if Bentley, their puppy could be in the photographs which only added to their excitement. There certificate was delivered on the day of the photos.
